Day 1

Arrival in Hailaer

Upon arrival in Haileer, the capital of the Hulunbuir region, you'll be immediately captivated by the city's blend of modern and traditional atmosphere, located at the gateway to the Mongolian steppes. You'll have time to settle in and explore the city at your own pace. You can choose to relax in your hotel or venture out into the surrounding area.

To begin your immersion in this fascinating region, here are some activities we suggest:

  • Visit Genghis Khan Square : This iconic site pays homage to the great Mongol conqueror. Stroll through this vast square, admire the imposing statue of Genghis Khan, and soak up the site's majestic and historic atmosphere. A perfect place to begin your Mongolian adventure.

  • Exploring the Hulunbuir Museum of Minorities : This fascinating museum offers a glimpse into the history and traditions of the region's peoples, with exhibits on Mongolian nomads, their equestrian culture, and ancestral customs. Day 2

Hulunbuir: Tradition, adventure, and a first equestrian immersion - 2 hours on horseback

At 10:00 am, we will drive you to our dream campsite in the heart of nature.

Once there, you'll meet the majestic Mongolian horses. Depending on your profile (height, weight, riding experience), we'll choose a horse perfectly suited to you. Before you take the reins, we'll give you an overview of essential safety rules and a riding lesson to familiarize yourself with your mount.

Prepare to experience a moment of equestrian freedom with a 2-hour introductory ride through the magnificent landscapes of Hulunbuir. A gentle start before venturing out into the steppes!

Days 3 to 4

Journey to the shores of the Morigele: Equestrian escape in the heart of the steppes - 5 hours on horseback per day

Your horseback riding adventure takes an even more magical turn with a delicious hot milk tea to gently begin the day. After a comforting breakfast, we'll mount our horses for an unforgettable equestrian expedition along the banks of the Morigele , a legendary river that winds its way through the endless steppes of Hulunbuir.

We will guide you through the summer pastures of local farmers, traversing breathtaking landscapes. The Morigele, nicknamed " the first meandering river under the sky ," will accompany you throughout this extraordinary horseback ride, offering majestic views of the river and the vast meadows.

In the heart of this wild landscape, you'll encounter traditional yurts , flocks of sheep, peacefully grazing cattle, and horses galloping freely . An exclusively equestrian experience, where every moment in the saddle allows you to fully immerse yourself in the tranquility and beauty of this unique place. A moment of absolute freedom and profound connection with nature.

Day 5

On the banks of the Morigele: Equestrian adventure and nomadic immersion - 5 hours on horseback

After an energizing breakfast , get ready for another day of horseback riding adventure across the Morigele. You'll have the opportunity to cross the river on horseback, splashing in the water and having a blast. Today, we'll focus on speed control and quick starts to enhance your riding skills .

At midday, you will be welcomed into a traditional yurt in the heart of an Evenki herding family , where you will enjoy milk tea while warming yourself by the fire. You will discover the authentic nomadic way of life and the simplicity of daily pastoral life.

In the afternoon, prepare to relive the thrill of galloping across the meadows . The wind whistles in your ears, water splashes beneath the horses' hooves, and the sun shines on your joyful faces. Laughter echoes across the vast open spaces, and for the more adventurous, it's time to kick off your shoes and jump into the river for a refreshing dip. Others might prefer a kayaking excursion on the Morigele, transforming the river into our private playground .

At the end of the day, we will return to camp as the golden glow of sunset bathes the steppes in a magical light. The horses, eager to graze on the fresh grass, will mark the end of this memorable day. In the evening, a traditional meal awaits you: mutton butchered on the spot. and cooked in a Chinese fondue to awaken your taste buds with authentic flavors of the steppe.

Day 6

Return to Hailaer and transfer to the airport: An unforgettable end in the heart of the steppes - 2 hours on horseback

After a final breakfast under the open sky, we begin our last morning in the saddle. On this final day, even novice riders will have gained confidence and will fully savor the sensation of riding freely across the vast Mongolian steppes.

At midday, we reach our final destination and share a traditional lunch featuring hand-pulled lamb and lamb soup —authentic flavors that will delight your taste buds. Around the table, stories of unforgettable moments experienced during this equestrian adventure in the Barhu meadows will resonate with emotion.

After this feast, it's time to pack up and bid farewell to the Morigele steppes, taking with us memories of exhilarating gallops, golden sunsets, and genuine encounters. We then head back to Hailaer, where you can choose to relax in the city or make your way to the airport for your departure .

This day marks the perfect conclusion to a unique equestrian adventure, a true immersion in the nature and nomadic culture of the Hulunbuir steppes. A journey that will remain etched in your memory long after the final gallop.

About the stay

Passport and visa

Your passport must be valid and have at least 6 months of validity remaining after the visa expiry date.

 

From November 10, 2025 to December 31, 2026 , holders of an ordinary passport from the following countries may enter mainland China without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days , for tourist, business, visiting or exchange purposes:

Health

No vaccinations are required to enter China, but it is recommended to be up-to-date on routine vaccinations such as diphtheria, tetanus, polio, and hepatitis A and B. Depending on the length and type of stay, vaccinations against typhoid and Japanese encephalitis may also be advised.
